The Wednesday Loop for Frisco

Howdy, Frisco.
We made it through another week of “is it raining?” “is it sunny?” “why is my weather app lying to me?” and now we’re about to cruise into Mother’s Day weekend.
I’m honestly too tired for a longer intro but grab your coffee. Let’s get into it.

Texas Edition
🚒 $53 Million McKinney Fire Headquarters Officially Opens
McKinney just cut the ribbon on a brand new $53 million fire department headquarters campus, and this one is serious.
The new facility at 2100 Taylor Burk Drive combines fire administration, logistics, and an active fire station all in one location. The campus includes:
• A two story, 40,000 square foot administration building
• A logistics center for fleet operations and equipment
• A brand new Fire Station 2 replacing the older station
The project was funded through bonds approved by voters in 2018 and is designed to improve coordination and response times as McKinney continues to grow.
Translation: faster response, better infrastructure, and a facility built for the future, not 2004.

🚨 Gateway Church Evacuated in “Swatting” Incident
Gateway Church in Prosper was evacuated Sunday morning (Apr 26) after police received a threatening call.
Officers from Prosper PD, Prosper Fire Rescue, and McKinney PD responded immediately, secured the area, and evacuated the building around 12:30 p.m. Children were escorted safely and reunited with parents in a back parking lot.
After a full search, authorities determined the call was a “swatting” incident, meaning false information was given to trigger a large emergency response.
There is no active threat to the public, but investigations remain ongoing.
Swatting is not a prank. It’s dangerous, disruptive, and forces serious resources into fake emergencies.
🏢 AT&T’s 280 Foot Tower Coming to Plano
Plano is about to get a new skyline feature.
AT&T’s headquarters project just cleared a major hurdle with unanimous Planning & Zoning approval. The campus will include:
• 2.3 million square feet of office space
• A 280 foot sculptural tower topped with the AT&T logo
• A public plaza
• A pedestrian bridge connecting to Shops at Legacy
The tower will also function as a “stealth antenna support structure”, meaning antennas are fully screened inside the design.
Lighting restrictions? No flashing or dramatic light shows after 10 p.m. (Sorry, no disco telecom tower.)
AT&T committed to investing at least $1.35 billion, creating 10,000 jobs by 2039, and occupying the campus for 25 years.
Plano said, “We’ll take that.”
⚖️ Civil Rights Groups Sue to Stop Texas Immigration Law
Civil rights organizations filed a lawsuit this week aiming to block parts of Senate Bill 4, a law set to take effect May 15.
The law would allow Texas police to arrest people suspected of entering the country without authorization and create state level immigration offenses.
Groups argue immigration enforcement is a federal responsibility and that the law is unconstitutional.
A federal appeals court recently lifted a previous pause on the law, allowing it to proceed unless another court blocks it.
Big policy implications. Big courtroom battles ahead.
