The Friday Recap for Frisco
Howdy, Frisco.
Happy Friday, y’all! Hope your week wasn’t too wild, unless wild means “spent 20 minutes yelling at your Alexa for not playing the right white noise.” Whether you're planning to watch a movie under the stars, sip a margarita after Pilates, or nerd out at a stargazing party, your weekend is looking packed. Let’s get into your Frisco fix, news, events, and weather all in one neighborly bundle.

Frisco’s Toyota Stadium Chosen as 2026 World Cup Base Camp
Big win for the city. Frisco’s Toyota Stadium will serve as one of the base camps during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. That means international teams will train right here before their matches, stay in nearby hotels, and yes, bring fans, media, and big $$$ into town.
This was announced at a “One Year to Go” press conference on June 11.
Frisco joins a list of other North Texas training sites like UNT, TCU, and Dallas Baptist.
Officials expect up to $2.1 billion in economic impact for host regions.
Actual team assignments won’t be revealed until early 2026.
👉 If you're wondering why all this matters: more foot traffic = more local biz growth = better tacos for all.

Frisco ISD Expects a Balanced Budget for 2025–26
After three years of budget deficits, Frisco ISD is breathing a sigh of relief. The district anticipates a balanced budget next school year thanks to cost saving moves and newly passed state funding.
Proposed general fund: $736M
New teacher raises: $2,500–$5,000 (depending on experience)
Gov. Abbott’s new law (HB 2) includes permanent educator raises, special ed funds, safety upgrades, and more
Budget will be adopted June 18, and tax rate discussed in August
They’ve trimmed $7.5M from payroll (by not filling some open roles) and cut $600K from extracurriculars, without major disruptions to learning.
Aldi Eyes a New Frisco Location
