The Monday Scoop for Frisco
Howdy, Frisco!
It’s Monday, April 21, and let’s just say the headlines have been a lot. Between legal drama, EV chargers, and community outrage, the city’s been buzzing louder than a Texas cicada in July. But don’t worry, I’ve got the good and the bad to get your week started right.
📰 In the News
🎯 Metcalf Family Swatted… Again
The Metcalf family, who lost their son Austin earlier this month in a tragic track meet stabbing, were again the targets of a “swatting” incident on Thursday.
Police rushed to their home after a false report of a shooting.
It’s the second time in two weeks they’ve been swatted.
Still no info on who’s behind the calls, but police say they’re taking it seriously.
Meanwhile, tensions boiled over at Karmelo Anthony’s family press conference that same day. Jeff Metcalf, Austin’s father, showed up to hear what was being said, and was asked to leave. The moment set off a firestorm of public statements, condemnation, and emotional reflection.
Anthony’s family expressed sympathy, while local activists clashed over what justice and dignity look like in a case that’s still under investigation.
⚡ Frisco Fuels the Future (Literally)
Frisco is now leading the charge (pun intended) in EV infrastructure. With over 18,000 EVs already zooming around Collin County, local favorite ABR Electric is partnering with the city to install charging stations at homes and hotspots like The Star and Frisco Square.
🔌 20 new public stations by 2027
🏡 Incentives for businesses + apartment complexes
🎓 Public education campaigns and EV test drives
In short: Frisco is powering up.
🏟️ Senate Hopeful Films Stabbing Scene, Faces Charges
Jake Lang, a Capitol riot defendant turned Senate candidate, broke into Kuykendall Stadium this weekend to film what he claimed was the scene of Austin Metcalf’s death.
🏃♂️ “I gotta get outta here before police come,” he says on video
🚨 Frisco ISD is now pressing trespassing charges
📸 The spot he filmed? Not the scene of the stabbing
Lang’s group, Protect White Americans, held a protest demanding Karmelo Anthony be put back in jail, a move that sparked a tense public rebuke from Jeff Metcalf himself, who told Lang:
“You’re trying to create more race divide than bridging the gap.”
Lang was recently pardoned by Trump and is now seeking a Senate seat in Florida. Stay tuned, this one’s far from over.

Translation: Start the week strong, get your events in early, and by midweek, maybe locate that umbrella you swore you wouldn’t lose again.
That’s all for now, Frisco! As always, be kind, stay informed, and check in on your neighbors. We’re in this together, and this city doesn’t slow down.
See you later for more news, more sunshine (hopefully), and more ways to be in the know.
