The Monday Scoop for Frisco

Howdy, Frisco!

It’s Monday, April 7 — and we’re back to blue skies, brighter moods, and a fresh new week ahead. Whether your weekend was packed with BBQ, crawfish, or just much-needed sleep, I’ve got your Monday rundown: the latest headlines, upcoming events, and weather that actually wants you to go outside.

🚨 What’s Real and What’s Not?

Frisco PD + FBI are now investigating fake social media posts pretending to be from our police chief following the tragic track meet stabbing last week.

The posts, which looked like official statements from Chief Shilson, spread across Facebook and X with inflammatory language designed to provoke tension and cast doubt on the investigation.

🔎 Here’s what we know:

  • The posts were not made by the chief or Frisco PD

  • They’re being taken down with help from social platforms

  • Criminal charges are likely for whoever made them

  • A separate fake autopsy report was also circulating, also false

Officials remind everyone: Stick to official channels. If it’s not coming from the city, the police department, or trusted media, take it with a Texas-sized grain of salt.

Meanwhile, the murder investigation into 17-year-old Austin Metcalf’s death continues. The suspect, Karmelo Anthony, remains in Collin County Jail. He claims self-defense, but no further details have been officially confirmed.

🏈 Draft Day, the Frisco Way

Frisco’s The Star is more than just practice turf these days, it’s becoming a draft hub for NFL hopefuls.

The Cowboys have embraced a hyper-local strategy, using their massive home facility to scout North Texas talent and invite a broader, more diverse pool of athletes through events like Dallas Day.

This isn't just about strategy, it’s about community. Letting local prospects shine while fueling the future of the team? That’s a win-win. And honestly, it’s kind of cool seeing the draft process move from closed conference rooms to right here in Frisco.

🚸 New School Zones = Safer Streets

🏫 What’s changed:

  • Hosp Elementary’s zone now overlaps with Pearson Middle’s schedule

  • A new zone was created around Jones Middle & Rock Hill High to help Dove Creek students cross Glade Hill Dr.

  • Two Richwoods private neighborhood zones (for Talley Elem, Lawler MS & Centennial HS) were finally added to the ordinance

Basically: more signs, slower speeds, safer walks.
