🗳️ Frisco Calls Special Election to Fill City Council Place 1 Seat

Big news from City Hall, Frisco is officially holding a special election to fill the empty Place 1 City Council seat, following John Keating’s resignation on October 27 to run for mayor.

  • Election Day: January 31, 2026

  • Early voting: January 14–27

  • Candidate filing window: November 10 – December 1

💝 Help Families, Support Local: Frisco Launches Donation Drive

Frisco’s newest community campaign is all about neighbors helping neighbors. The City of Frisco, Frisco Community Development Corporation (FCDC), and Frisco Family Services (FFS) are teaming up for a donation drive that rewards residents for giving back, with a $50 voucher to local Rail District businesses.

Here’s how it works:

  • Donate or volunteer to earn a $50 voucher redeemable downtown

  • Bring at least $50 in food, toys, or goods to FFS

  • Or volunteer 2+ hours with the organization

  • 500 vouchers available, valid through Jan. 31, 2026

Why it matters:

  • FFS has seen a 20% increase in local families needing help this year

  • The FCDC allocated $500,000 to support small businesses struggling through Main Street construction

  • It’s part of a $69 million revitalization project set for completion next year

So you’re feeding families and supporting small businesses, the ultimate Frisco two-for-one deal.

🏟️ Whitestone REIT Acquires World Cup Plaza Near Toyota Stadium

Another major real estate move, Whitestone REIT has officially purchased the World Cup Plaza, a 90,000+ sq. ft. restaurant and retail hub right next to Toyota Stadium.

Why this matters:

  • Toyota Stadium is mid-renovation with a $182 million makeover, prepping for its role as an official World Cup Team Base Camp

  • World Cup Plaza includes fan favorites like Blue Goose Cantina, The NOW Massage, Lemma Coffee Roasters, and Rotate Bar & Kitchen

  • The plaza sits across from Frisco Square, linking the city’s downtown core with the stadium district

Whitestone already owns four nearby shopping centers, so expect more upgrades, and maybe a few new restaurants to grab a bite before those World Cup matches kick off.
