Frisco Insider - Draft Party + Voting + More

Howdy, Frisco.
First of all, I owe you an apology. This email is a little later than usual. For some reason, I was running on approximately 3 brain cells and could hardly sleep this weekend. Rather than sending out a chaotic, typo filled disaster, I decided sleep is better than nonsense. You deserve a clean, organized, actually helpful edition. So here we are. Also I just wanted to mention that I love the weather today.
Let’s get into it.

📸 Frisco Student Wins National Gold Medal for Photography
We’ve got some serious talent in this city.
Ahan Jain, a Frisco student at Greenhill School, just earned a National Gold Medal in the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards for his experimental photography piece titled “Crossing.”
Here’s what makes it special:
Uses a complex darkroom technique called Mordançage
Creates flowing, veil-like distortions in the image
Explores how people move through beautiful environments….glued to their phones
The photo reflects how we often walk past each other, and past the world, without really seeing it. The distortions represent that disconnect.
Honestly I think it’s deep. Also a little too accurate.
Big congrats to Ahan for representing Frisco on a national stage with something thoughtful and creative. We love to see it.
Solve your pain
Knees sore on stairs? Stiff getting out of the car? That discomfort often starts in your back or hips, not the knee itself.
Core Strength Wellness is a local near-Frisco chiropractor focused on helping people move better and hurt less. They're offering a no cost consultation, no pressure, just a real look at what's going on.
If you've been putting it off, this is an easy first step.
🚨 Overnight Stabbing, Suspect Found in Trash Can
Frisco Police are investigating an overnight stabbing that happened near Main Street and Hillcrest Road around 11 p.m. Friday.
Here’s what we know:
Officers quickly set up a perimeter
The juvenile suspect was found hiding inside a trash can
The victim is expected to survive
Police initially asked residents to avoid the area due to a heavy police presence.
The situation was contained quickly, and thankfully the victim is expected to recover. If you see suspicious activity, as always, call it in.
🗳 Early Voting Starts Today (April 20)
Alright, Frisco. It’s officially go time.
Early voting runs April 20–28 for the May 2 election.
On your ballot:
Frisco ISD
Place 4
Place 5
Frisco City Council
Place 5
Place 6
Mayor
Mayor Jeff Cheney has termed out, so this race is wide open.
Important notes:
Collin County residents can vote at any polling location
Denton County residents can vote anywhere during early voting, but must vote at their assigned location on Election Day
And yes…we are officially in the final stretch before all those campaign yard signs disappear. Your neighborhood corners will soon be peaceful again.
Weekly Roadwork Roundup
If your commute feels slightly more adventurous this week, here’s why:
New Pavement Replacement
Ridge Creek Pkwy (West of Custer)
EB Rolater Rd at Bendbrook Dr
Ongoing
Morgan Hill Rd & Old Barn Dr (Pearson Farms Subdivision)
Expect about two weeks for completion (weather permitting).
As always: leave five minutes early and pretend it was intentional.
