The Wednesday Loop for Frisco

Howdy, Frisco.
First of all….was anyone else personally attacked by the wind yesterday? I stepped outside for two seconds and came back looking like I lost a fight with a leaf blower. Patio chairs relocated. Trash cans rolling down the street like tumbleweeds. It was giving “West Texas audition.”
I hope everyone is doing well and your fences are still upright. Let’s get into it, because this week’s headlines are wild in the best and weirdest ways.

👜 Police Seize 62,000+ Counterfeit Luxury Items Worth $101M
Rowlett police just wrapped up a massive investigation involving counterfeit luxury goods being sold through Facebook Live.
After receiving a tip in early February, detectives uncovered what they say was a social media based distribution operation running out of multiple Rowlett locations.
Here’s what they seized:
62,694 suspected counterfeit items
$208,000 in cash
A 2017 Chevy Silverado
If authentic, police say the merchandise would’ve been worth more than $101.6 million, though its estimated street value was closer to $995,000.
The brands involved? Cartier, Chanel, Dior, Coach, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Prada… basically your entire “if I win the lottery” Pinterest board.
One suspect has been arrested and charged with first-degree felony trademark counterfeiting. A second suspect is still at large.
Police emphasized counterfeiting isn’t victimless, it hurts legitimate businesses and often funds larger criminal networks.
Moral of the story: If the “Gucci” bag is twenty bucks and being sold on Facebook Live at midnight….it might not be Gucci.

🐶 Missing North Texas Dog Found 1,500 Miles Away
This one is pure feel good.
A dog named Koko, who went missing in North Texas two years ago, was just reunited with her family, after being found wandering the streets of Clark, New Jersey.
Yes. New Jersey.
A police officer scanned Koko’s microchip and discovered her owners were in Glenn Heights. The family immediately flew out to bring her home.
Officers kept Koko safe and comfortable for three days (living her best life in the dispatch room) until her reunion.
How she traveled 1,500 miles remains a mystery. But she ran straight to her mom when reunited, and honestly, that’s the part that matters.

🎣 Angler Arrested After Allegedly Adding Weights to Fish
You can’t make this up.
An angler competing in a Texas fishing tournament was arrested after officials discovered metal weights stuffed inside a bass he submitted in an attempt to win a $10,000 prize.
He had already won $2,500 in hourly prizes before the fish was scanned and three weights were found inside. More weights were allegedly discovered on his boat.
He’s now charged with violating fishing tournament law, a third-degree felony because the prize exceeded $10,000.
Tournament officials thanked Texas Game Wardens for protecting the integrity of competitive fishing.
Because apparently….cheating at bass tournaments is a serious crime.
Lake Fork remains one of the premier bass lakes in the world. Just maybe….let the fish weigh what they weigh.
🧹 Volunteers Collect 45 Pounds of Trash in Frisco
While some folks were chasing fake Gucci and weighted bass, others were out doing the real MVP work.
Eight volunteers with Dr. Shri. Nanasaheb Dharmadhikari Pratishthan (DSNDP) collected 45 pounds of trash along a two-mile stretch of Preston Road this weekend.
The group partners with Frisco’s Adopt-A-Street program and has removed nearly 41,000 pounds of waste nationwide since 2022.
In Texas alone:
39 cleanup events
563 volunteers
Nearly 5,000 pounds collected
Their motto translates to “The world is one family.”
After that windstorm, Preston probably needed it.
