The Monday Scoop for Frisco

Howdy, Frisco.

It’s Monday, May 12 and the sun’s back with a vengeance. While it’s a quieter week for events, there’s still plenty going on, from star studded moments at The Star to new development plans that could bring two hotels and nine restaurants to town.

📍 Rail District Receipt Race Returns
Let’s hear it for receipts! Frisco Chamber of Commerce just launched the summer edition of the Rail District Receipt Race, running from May 9 to Sept. 30. PTAs can collect receipts from Rail District businesses to win up to $3,000 (and bragging rights).

How it works:

  • 6 local PTAs can win a piece of the $12K prize

  • Points for number of receipts and total amount spent

  • Extra points for organizing Spirit Days at local businesses

🎤 ACM Awards Recap:
A Texas-Sized Party at The Star Frisco glowed a little brighter last Thursday as country’s biggest names took over The Star for the 60th ACM Awards. Hosted by Reba (for the 18th time!) and streamed live on Prime Video, the night was full of glitz, boots, and jaw dropping performances.

🏆 Big winners:

  • Lainey Wilson: Entertainer of the Year, Female Artist, Album, Artist-Songwriter

  • Ella Langley & Riley Green: Single + Music Event of the Year

  • Chris Stapleton: Male Artist of the Year

  • Cody Johnson: Song of the Year ("Dirt Cheap")

  • Brooks & Dunn: Duo of the Year

🏙️ Big Plans Brewing on Preston Frisco
Officials are reviewing plans for a major commercial development called “Preston Promenade”:

📌 Location: Northeast corner of Preston Rd & Panther Creek Parkway 🛠️ Proposed features:

  • 9 restaurants (3 with drive-thrus)

  • Gas station + car wash

  • 2 hotels

  • 4 office buildings

  • Water features, shade structures, raised planters

The plat gets reviewed again May 13. Stay tuned, it’s a big deal for Frisco’s north end.

🚧 Weekly Roadwork Roundup

Expect lane closures 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. at:

  • Warren Pkwy & Preston Rd (intersection improvement)

  • NB Teel Parkway (ongoing pavement replacement)

Estimated two-week completion time (weather permitting).

That’s it?! Yep. Not gonna lie, it’s a light week on events. Maybe the entire city RSVP’d “yes” to their couch after ACM week.

Mon 12 – Sunny | 83° / 62°

Wed 14 – Mostly Sunny | 100° / 73°

That’s it for this week, Frisco. Whether you’re grabbing tacos, submitting receipts for PTA points, or just working on your AC bill survival strategy, keep it cool out there.
