The Friday Recap for Frisco

Howdy, Frisco. Happy Friday!
Graduation season is officially wrapping up. The caps have been thrown. The tassels have been turned. The graduation parties have consumed roughly 78% of Costco’s sheet cake inventory.
If you’ve recently:
Paid for a graduation
Attended three graduations in one weekend
Or clapped for 400 names straight
Congratulations. We made it.
It’s been a loud week in Frisco. Politics. Meetings. Strong opinions. Viral clips. But before we dive in, quick reminder: we are neighbors first. We wave at each other at H-E-B. We sit next to each other at football games. We fight for parking at The Star together.
No bias here. Just facts. And maybe a little humor so we don’t all combust.
Let’s get into it.

🗳️ Mayoral Candidates Face Off Ahead of June 13 Runoff
The Frisco Chamber of Commerce hosted a standing-room-only forum this week featuring mayoral candidates Rod Vilhauer and Mark Hill as the June 13 runoff approaches.
The May 2 election didn’t produce a majority winner:
Hill: 34.64% (8,705 votes)
Vilhauer: 31.42% (7,895 votes)
Both candidates emphasized:
Managing growth
Traffic & infrastructure
Public safety
Economic development
What Frisco looks like in 2050
Hill
Lean into the 2040 comprehensive plan
Invest in East Frisco reinvestment
Focus on Main Street identity
Emphasize business recruitment tied to tax stability
Vilhauer
Be pickier about development
Prioritize “gold star” companies
Lean heavily into tech sector growth
Selective use of EDC incentives
The forum also turned toward rhetoric and community tone, with sharp exchanges about language used during the campaign.
Translation: It got real.
Early voting runs June 1–9. Election Day is June 13.
No matter who you support, go vote. Then please still smile at each other in the Chick-fil-A line.
💛 Natalie Starts a Movement: “Moms Need Moms”
Now for the part of the newsletter that makes me proud.
Seven years ago, one of our very own Frisco Insider subscribers, Natalie, was deep in the early years of motherhood. Postpartum depression. Isolation. That feeling of, “Why does this feel so lonely?”
Instead of staying quiet…she built something.
What started as pain turned into Moms Need Moms, a curated, application-based community right here in Frisco.
This isn’t a casual Facebook group.
This isn’t a “bring snacks and hope for the best” meetup.
This is:
Real relief = seasoned moms coming over so exhausted mamas can shower or nap.
Real relationships = showing up servant-minded and vulnerable.
The Frisco Collective is intentionally small:
1 seasoned mama for every 2–3 moms in the thick of it
Application + conversation required
“Gate-kept” culture by design
And now? It’s growing beyond Frisco.
Natalie is launching a June coaching cohort to equip moms who feel called to start their own collectives, in Frisco or beyond.
Three ways to step in:
Apply to join the Founding Frisco Collective
Book a 90 minute 1:1 coaching session
DM @momsneedmomsco if you feel called to lead
Businesses and investors aligned with the mission? They’re open to conversations too.
Everything lives here: https://linktr.ee/momsneedmomsco
Natalie, we see you. Frisco moms are better because you decided your hard season wasn’t wasted.
🏛️ Mosque, Temple Projects Draw Packed Council Meeting
Frisco City Hall was once again filled to capacity this week as more than 40 speakers signed up to discuss plans for a mosque, Hindu temple, and Jain temple.
Important context:
All three sites have been zoned for houses of worship for over 25 years.
Council stated the vote was administrative, not new zoning.
After hours of public comment (and midnight adjournment energy), council chose not to overturn planning recommendations.
There were strong opinions on all sides. Some speakers voiced support for religious freedom and community growth. Others voiced concerns about development and demographics.
Police escorted one outside activist from the chamber after comments escalated.
Bottom line:
Frisco is growing. Conversations are getting louder.
But here’s the thing — this city is built by neighbors. And we’re going to need each other long after campaign signs are gone.
🚗 Vehicle Thefts Climbing in 2026
Heads up, Frisco.
Vehicle thefts are already outpacing 2025 totals.
April stats:
17 vehicles stolen in April (10 more than March)
45 vehicles stolen year to date (vs. 34 at this time last year)
179 crashes in April (110 injury related)
35 DWI arrests
31 drug related arrests
Friendly reminder:
Lock your car.
Don’t leave keys in it.
Don’t leave your purse, backpack, laptop, or entire life story visible in the passenger seat.
Frisco PD also reported a 6% per capita increase in calls for service year to date.
Stay sharp, neighbors.

Translation:
Perfect movie night weather.
Solid water park weather.
Acceptable “let’s all calm down and touch grass” weather.
That’s it for this week, Frisco.
Graduations are done.
The political signs are heating up.
City Hall microphones are tired.
Let’s be decent to each other.
Let’s vote.
Let’s lock our cars.
Let’s support local moms building beautiful things.
And maybe let’s all breathe a little.
Catch y’all Monday!
