The Friday Recap for Frisco
Howdy, Frisco
It’s Friday again, which means it’s time to pretend like we’re going to sleep in this weekend and not get woken up by a leaf blower, a soccer game, or a child demanding waffles at 6:03 a.m. Still, we’ve got sunshine, big events, a city full of stories, and plenty of reasons to peek out from under the covers.
Let’s get into your local headlines, weekend happenings, and the weather outlook! 🌤️

🐺 Coyote Attacks 8-Year-Old in Frisco Neighborhood
An 8 year-old girl walking slightly ahead of her mom was bitten and scratched by a coyote Monday near Lacy Lane in the Lexington Park area. Thankfully, her injuries were not life-threatening and her mother’s quick reaction helped scare off the animal before things escalated further.
As a response, Frisco Animal Services teamed up with USDA Wildlife Services to trap and remove three coyotes from the area. Officials are now testing the animals and reminding resident to stay alert, keep pets leashed, and bring a whistle or airhorn when out and about. Aggressive coyotes aren’t common, but it’s clear they might be getting too comfortable.
🎙️ Secret Recording Stirs Frisco Council Race
Frisco’s City Council runoff just got spicier. Audio recordings of Tammy Meinershagen, Deputy Mayor Pro Tem, surfaced days before the May 3 election, capturing controversial remarks about colleagues and Frisco’s Indian community.
While some voters were outraged, others are torn, questioning the ethics behind how the recordings were made and shared. Still, challenger Burt Thakur is calling the remarks disqualifying and pushing for new leadership. With the Place 2 runoff on June 7, the drama continues. Residents say they’re hoping for fewer personal attacks and more focus on actual city issues.
🎢 Universal Kids Resort Construction Moves Forward
Construction on Frisco’s most exciting kid magnet is well underway! The Universal Kids Resort, set to open in 2026, just revealed fresh updates which includes visible coaster construction and themed attractions taking shape.
The 97 acre park will feature attractions from Shrek, Trolls, SpongeBob, Jurassic World, and more. Designed for families with young kids, it’ll also include a resort hotel and interactive play zones.
Reddit photos already show coaster tracks going up, and anticipation is growing fast. No official opening date yet, but Frisco families (and traffic planners) are bracing for the boom.
