The Friday Recap for Frisco
Howdy, Frisco!
It’s Friday, April 11 and pollen’s floating, the sun’s shining, and if you’ve been meaning to hit an art show, swim with Easter eggs, or stare into the galaxy, this is your weekend. But first, let’s break down what’s going on around the neighborhood.
Is Frisco Still Safe?
After the tragic fatal stabbing of 17-year-old Austin Metcalf at a track meet, many residents have been left wondering if Frisco is still as safe as it once felt.
The data says yes , violent crime rates are still low:
Frisco averaged fewer than 3 homicides a year over the last 5 years.
In that same time, Frisco added 30K people.
Our overall “feeling of safety” in surveys? 94% above the national average.
But concerns are rising about:
Juvenile crime, which peaked at 240 arrests in 2023 (now down to 199).
Online misinformation around the stabbing case, police say outside actors are stirring fear and division.
As Mayor Jeff Cheney put it, high profile cases grab headlines, but the numbers tell a different story. Still, many longtime locals say the city needs to keep up its investment in public safety as we continue to grow.
Woman Sues Frisco Massage Parlor for Alleged Assault
A woman has filed a lawsuit against Elements Massage in Frisco, alleging she was sexually assaulted during a 2022 session.
🔍 Key details:
The accused, Dominique Gutierrez, pled guilty in 2024 to attempted sexual assault and was placed on probation.
