The Monday Scoop for Frisco

Howdy, Frisco.

It’s the last full month of summer, and somehow it feels like we're still inside a blow dryer set to "scorch." Whether you're dodging traffic on Preston or just dodging back to school shopping lists, I’ve got your dose of news, events to help you stay sane (or at least entertained), and a weather report that might just help you plan your week.

Let’s get into it

Rail District Construction Is Crushing Local Businesses

Frisco is pouring $80 million into revitalizing the historic Rail District, but for some longtime merchants, it’s starting to feel like a financial knockout.

Randy’s Steakhouse (in a Victorian-era home) says business is down 65%.
Soccer City reports a 50% drop in foot traffic.
At least a dozen businesses have already closed up shop.

While the city is investing in new sidewalks, patios, and matching grants to create that “Austin-vibe,” owners say what they really need is help now, payroll support, rent relief, and good ol’ customer traffic.

The construction is expected to wrap by year’s end, with the full makeover done by May 2026. Until then? Your local faves could really use your support. So maybe next date night or gift run...skip stonebriar and hit Main Street.

Frisco Ranks Among Safest Suburbs in the U.S.

We made the list, y’all.
Frisco just ranked #10 safest suburb in America according to SmartAsset.

They looked at things like:

  • Violent & property crime

  • Drug overdoses

  • Traffic deaths

  • Excessive drinking rates

It’s official, we’re safe, sunny, and only mildly chaotic.

Dick’s House of Sport Coming to Stonebriar Centre

You heard that right, Frisco’s getting a giant, experience focused Dick’s. (Behave.)

Coming 2026:

  • Rock climbing walls

  • Golf simulators

  • Try before you buy sports gear

The new Dick’s House of Sport will replace the old Sears space at Stonebriar Centre.

DNT Lane Closures All Week Long

Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Between Aug 3–9, you can expect daily and nightly lane and ramp closures all across the Dallas North Tollway in Frisco. That includes:

  • Stonebrook

  • Gaylord

  • John Hickman

  • SH 121

  • Legacy

  • PGA Pkwy
