⚖️ Former Frisco Doctor Facing Murder Charge for 2023 Medical Spa Death

A difficult story to share this week. A former Frisco doctor has been arraigned on murder charges tied to a patient's death nearly three years ago.

• Jason Gallagher, a Frisco anesthesiologist, and Amber Johnson were arraigned July 30 on charges including murder, criminally negligent homicide, and manslaughter

• The charges stem from the 2023 death of Jenifer Cleveland, who died after an IV treatment at Luxe Med Spa in Wortham

• Court documents state Johnson administered the IV without a medical license, and that Gallagher failed to properly supervise her

• Cleveland reportedly received "prescription pharmaceutical solutions, resulting in complications that staff were not trained or prepared to manage"

• Gallagher's medical license was suspended following Cleveland's death, and Texas lawmakers passed "Jenifer's Law" in 2025 to regulate elective IV therapies and prevent similar deaths

• Colleagues describe Cleveland, who worked at a local radio station, as someone who "could light up a room in an instant"

⛳ Four Golfers Share Girls Lead as Soong Tops Boys Field at Junior PGA

The 50th Junior PGA Championship is heading into its final round at Fields Ranch East with a wide open leaderboard on both sides.

• Gia Ahlowalia, Alexandra Phung, Ava Zhang, and Alexa Takai are tied atop the Girls Division at 5 under, with Ahlowalia (a Southlake native and TCU commit) making the biggest move of the day with a 7 birdie 67

• Jaden Soong holds a two shot lead in the Boys Division at 8 under after climbing seven spots with a 3 under round

• Five golfers from the host Northern Texas PGA Section advanced to the final round, including Plano's Ryan Lee

🍔 Red's on Main Announces Temporary Closure After Less Than a Year in Frisco

Some tougher small business news out of downtown: Red's on Main has temporarily closed just months after opening.

• The restaurant, known for smash burgers, wings, and paninis, cited a decline in summer business and closed as of July 29 to pursue additional funding

• No reopening date has been announced

• Red's on Main opened in February 2026 at 3288 Main St.

Hoping this is a "see you soon" and not a goodbye, we could use more spots like this one.

🧁 Popular Bakery to Add Two More Shops in North Texas

Some sweeter news to close out the roundup. SusieCakes is expanding its DFW footprint with two new locations.

• One store opens this fall in Dallas' West Village, with the second coming next year to Frisco's Fields West development

• The California based bakery is known for scratch made layer cakes, including Southern Red Velvet and its signature Vanilla Celebration Cake
